Fugitive Emissions Surveys

Various industries today face the environmental challenge of reducing and preventing fugitive emissions. It is recognised that they must reduce there impact on the environment, and a key factor to improving the environment for air quality and climate change is by reducing industrial emissions. This is driven by various factors including environmental legislation and standards (e.g. ISO 15848), public pressure, and the internal requirement to minimise the loss of valuable stocks.

A large proportion of industrial emissions are unanticipated from leaks in process systems. Equipment leaks are referred as “fugitive emissions” potential sources can include pumps, valves, flanges, open ended lines, and pressure relief valves.

Remedios Ltd. uses various techniques for monitoring depending upon the target gases and technologies; commonly a portable FID is used.  High-quality surveys are conducted according to the relevant guidelines and the client’s aims, providing detailed emission inventory data. Remedios have recently carried an extensive fugitive emissions survey at the Mobil North Sea, SAGE plant in St. Fergus , Scotland.
