Phase I Investigations
|
A Phase I (preliminary) investigation is the initial stage of a site investigation. It is a desktop study and is used to characterise the past and present activities of a site which could have led to any potential contamination (sources) occurring at the site. It also establishes any receptors and pathways which may be present and therefore any pollution linkage associated with the site. A Phase I involves looking at historical, geological and hydrogeological maps, an environmental service report as well as any information held by local authorities. It also includes a site reconnaissance to gain additional information to how the site is at present. All the information is then collated to construct a conceptual site model detailing any potential sources, pathways and receptors associated with the site and any risk that is posed to human health and the wider environment. The overall objective of the Phase I is to determine whether any further investigative works are required in the form of a Phase II. Phase I | Phase II | Phase III | Due Diligence Reporting | Ecological Water Quality Assessment | Fugitive Emissions Please also see our other Services information. |
